Will some federal agencies still be under a continuing resolution on March 15, 2007? -
An Office of Management and Budget official said today (Jan 31 2007) that President Bush’s requested information technology funding will continue to emphasize homeland security and governmentwide initiatives to save money.
Tim Young, associate administrator for e-government and IT at OMB, divulged few details because the fiscal 2008 budget will not be released until Feb. 5. But he said the dollar figures on homeland security spending will continue last year’s trend.
I think the emphasis on government wide initiatives to save money is an indicator many agency-specific funding increase requests will not be included in the budget.
The President's fiscal year 2008 IT budget request will be at least $67.0 billion (5 percent higher than the FY 07 request). -
It looks like most of the civilian agencies will be under a year long continuing resolution.
